A film arrives at Stockholm's National Crime Investigation Department showing a woman in her own home, plainly unaware she is being watched. The police don't take it seriously ...until she is found murdered.

This is the fifth book in the series and the third I have read. so it was with great enthusiasm I reach for this book. The subject matter of stalkers are one we would usual associated with world of celebrities. but this story brings it crashing in to the real world. after reading this I discovered that the statistics show 1 in 5 adult women will be subject to a stalker at some point in their lives. this strikes me as a truly terrifying fact.

The story is  well crafted.  The dark and twisted obsessions of an unhinged mind. This is not one for the faint of heart. the killer is adept a staying one step ahead of the police. leading them on a merry dance across the dark and foreboding city scape of Stockholm and beyond. not that our leads are fools. but simply doing the best with the information they have. There are splattering of clues that will keep you guessing up to the end which I think is good as there is nothing worse than getting a few chapters in and already having It all worked out.  The writer does a great job in describing place and situations  the reader would never dare nor want to venture. bring a sense of realism that others some times fail to bring.

The characters seem well flesh out with out having to spend chapters on each and every one. their interaction seem plausible without the need for grand extension in the vain of a bond villain. the moments in the book where we follow the stalker them selves are very creepy as you feel like you are peeking over there shoulder and you your self a stalker the victims. at times wanting to shout run get out. the writer also brings some lighter moments to ease the tension. which at times can feel like a relief.

Not much time is given to the back ground of our main characters. but to be honest this is not something to worry about. there is enough going on with the supporting cast to keep the book moving on a steady pace. although certain fact crop up early on which would spoil previous books had you not read them so just be a where.

Over all I think this is another fine book in the series and look forward to more instalments. it certainly kept me hooked from the first chapter as I flew though the book not wanting to put it down. so turn on the lights close the curtains and enjoy crime that will creep under your skin.
